Biochemical investigation of subarachnoid haemorrhage:
CSF Spectrophotometry workshop
Dr Robert Beetham
This workshop will aim, by means of carefully chosen case material, to illustrate current recommended practice for the spectrophotometric examination of CSF in the detection of CT negative suspected subarachnoid haemorrhage and thus enable those attending to approach this subject with confidence.
After a brief overview to set the scene, a number of spectrophotometric scans will be discussed. These scans will encompass the range of difficulty encountered in practice and will be circulated prior to the workshop, together with a reading list. In the light of accompanying details, participants will be asked to prepare an interpretation of the scans again current guidelines. There will be a discussion of the interpretation and of the issues involved together with a presentation of outcome.
There will also be the opportunity for participants to bring examples of difficult cases for discussion and raise any other relevant issues.
