Workshop 8Statistics in clinical practice: sorting the herrings from the psDr Rick Jones Find yourself baffled by statistical techniques? Cant figure out why the tables are only for students? This might be the workshop for you. Statistics simplified. Statistical techniques are commonly required in clinical biochemistry but can be over elaborated and confusing. This early morning session will take a gentle look at some of the elementary techniques which are used in the discipline, concentrating on those with a more clinical / audit application. The content will be predominantly pictorial with a minimum of numbers and equations. Be prepared for the odd long division however and bring your mobile phone (you may need a simple calculator!) You might find out why Fisher was exact and how more than half the world could be above average intelligence. Hopefully you will emerge better able to fish through the tables without your head time swimming in a sea of prime numbers. |
