Our Invitation to You
I have great pleasure in inviting you to participate in our Annual National Meeting – Focus 2006, which will be held from the 15 – 18 May at the Hilton Brighton Metropole Hotel.
The conference venue occupies a prime location on the seafront, and offers excellent facilities, enabling us to integrate scientific sessions, exhibition and poster displays. Accommodation is available at the Hilton Metropole and at a selection of nearby hotels with a range of prices.
As always, a high quality Scientific Programme is the mainstay of our meeting. Professor Gordon Ferns, Chairman of the Scientific Programme Committee has put together an exciting and wide-ranging programme, which emphasises future needs and new issues in clinical biochemistry in tune with the conference theme “ focus on the future”.
The tradition of early morning workshops will continue, and sessions on Tuesday will provide an informal setting for interaction and sharing of knowledge on current issues. We invite you to submit abstracts for poster presentations and oral communications, and we shall be holding poster “workshops” each day at lunchtime. Four parallel sessions organised with UK NEQAS in Clinical Chemistry have been included in the programme, and we thank Dr Jonathan Middle and colleagues for their input into these.
The Focus 2006 exhibition has received tremendous support from our commercial partners, and presents an opportunity to see the latest equipment and methods which cannot be missed!
Social events start with the Corporate Members’ Night on Brighton Pier, continue with a wide choice of activities on Tuesday evening and finish with a spectacular banquet with a tropical theme on Wednesday night.
We look forward to welcoming you back to Brighton after a break of 12 years. I am sure that you will enjoy its unique mix of Regency Heritage, specialist shopping, lively art events and beachfront entertainment. Come to Brighton, catch up with old friends and make new ones. Enjoy the science, exhibition and social events by the sea!
Chairman, focus 2006 Organising Committee
